Now days if we want a certain haircut we look it up on the internet and show it to our hairdressers. It wasn't quite that easy in the 60’s. If a women wanted a ‘popular’ haircut she might cut out a photo from a magazine and show it to the hairdresser, or get their Mothers to try and cut the style at home.
Some popular hairstyles include:
Beehive- The beehive is a symbol of the early 1960s. The hairstyle is a distinctively hive-shape, backcombed and lacquered mountain of hair, often worn by women 20 years of age or older.
The bouffant- The bouffant was an easy-to-wear style and popular with women of all ages. Hair was set in large rollers to create the initial lift and end curl needed. The Hair was then backcombed and finished with a smooth, rounded exterior.
Short and sharp cuts- In contrast to the other popular hair styles, short cuts involved much less daily maintenance and fell easily into place. This hairstyle was rocked by a lot of fashion icons, leaving Australian women inspired.
Long hair- During the early 60s, hair would not simply be left down. It was worn sleek. The long hair style during the 60s is an example of the change in social views and the outbreak of teenagers rebelling. To get dead straight hair, women would iron it, often using a brown paper bag over the hair to help prevent it getting singed.
Shoes
It's hard to describe a distinct shoe look for the 60s. Conservative women stuck with the stiletto but slip on shoes with chunky heels were also popular to wear with pants. Of course, there were boots to go along with the mini skirt. First they were loose plastic or plain leather but eventually they morphed into clinging treated textiles. Go-go boots were the must have and came in every different height imaginable.

Hats
Hats were small on the head but designed with a great detail of flowers, lace, veils and luxurious embellishments and trim.

Sunglasses
Sunglasses have always been popular to wear on the beach since the 30's. However, sunglasses for women to wear during daily activity became more popular during the 60's. Some popular types were “cat eye” and “bug eye,” many women were protecting their eyes from the sun all day round in an array of unique styles.
